Meet Russell
Let me introduce myself. I’m a coach for gay men. I’m originally from the U.K. but I currently live in Portugal.
My background is in IT and training. I started my professional life as a trainer for digital media and later went on to work in IT as a consultant. Although I had a very different plan because I graduated from the Central School of Speech and Drama in London from their Stage Management and Technical Arts diploma.
After deciding that working in an office wasn’t for me, I taught English abroad while starting a freelance business where I created online content for IT pros. Eventually, I accepted a job with one of my clients and became responsible for content.
Today, I continue to produce content in the IT space but I also work as a coach for gay men. I’m also closely involved with my local community. In 2023, I established a Meetup group for LGBTQ people.
In my spare time, I’m usually found walking my dog, at the beach, listening to music, or doing something cultural.
Why work with me?
As a gay man, I have experienced many of the struggles that are common in our community today. I’ve seen it, been it, and got the t-shirt as they say. I've spent much of my life learning how to listen to my own voice rather than following a script.
I use the active listening skills I have learned over the years and powerful questioning to help gay men learn more about themselves and discover what would truly bring them fulfilment in life.
But importantly, I can empathise with your personal struggles as either I’ve experienced them myself at one point or I know people who have. Context is important, and as a gay man, I know well what it means to grow up being different and feeling the need to prove something in adulthood, just to be accepted.
My approach combines curiosity, compassion, and practical coaching. I won't tell you who you should be or how you should live your life. Instead, I'll help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, challenge the beliefs and patterns that may be holding you back, and build the confidence to make choices that reflect your values.
My coaching is inclusive of neurodivergent individuals and LGBTQ+ people, offering a respectful space where you can explore your experiences, values, and goals in a safe space.
